More than 1000 master in the 12. World Master Mountain Running Championships at Buhlertal: record!

"1.018 master finished the race at the 12. World Master Mountain Running Championships in Germany: never in the past editions more than one thousand runners arrived to the finish line in this Competition.
This record of runners with 802 men and 216 women at the end of the race signed the great success of this competition very well organized by LOC of Buhlertal.
The 9.4 kilometer mostly uphill course included a start on pavement through the town with a steep climb into the forested area of the mountainside with nearly 800 meters of vertical climbing. At the 11:00 a.m. start time (for category 70), temperatures were warm in the upper teens and by the final start group (35) the temperatures had reached over 20 with little breeze." "In total Germany won 20 gold medals of which 9 gold medals (exactly 50%) in the individual result with 4 men and five women in gold-medal position. Italy won 4 gold medals (individual: 2 men and 1 women and 1 team men), followed by the Czech Republic with 2 gold, one for men, one for women. One gold medal was one by Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland and Russia. In the team competition, Germany won 11 gold medals out of 12: Italy won 1 team gold medal in M45 category.
Finally the total medals won by Germany were 43 (20 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze), in second position Italy with a total of 20 medals (4 gold, 11 silver and 5 bronze), third Czech Rep. with 5 medals ( 2 gold and 3 bronze), Switzerland was fourth also with 5 medals (1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze) followed by Slovakia, Austria and Russia with one gold. France (3 silver and 1 bronze), Ireland (1 silver and 1 bronze), Scotland (2 bronze), England and Norway (1 bronze each) also won medals: so at the end 12 Countries had athletes on the podium.
In the men categories Aurelio Moscato (ITA - M60), Leonid Tikhonov (RUS - M55), Claudio Amati (ITA - M50) confirmed the world title won last year in Italy, instead the new champions were Andrea Unterkircher (AUT - M75), Peter Lessing (GER - M70), Albert Anderegg (SUI - M65), Stefan Hinze (GER - M45), Carsten Brod (GER - M40), Matthias Hecktor (GER - M35).
In the women categories Maria Marcibalova (SVK - W75), Lilo Charlotte Plener (GER - W65), Blanka Paulu (CZE - W55), Marie-Luise Heilig-Duventaster (GER - W50), confirmed the world title won last year in Italy and Ivana Sekyrova (CZE - W40) last year was the winner in W35 instead this year won in W40. Ingrid Hoffmann (GER - W70), Annamaria Galbani (ITA - W60), Josefa Mathies (GER - W45) and Julia Brod (GER -W35) were the news champions this year.
Of the entrants starting at age 35 up to 75, just over 21% were women. The largest age group of participants was in the 45-49 age category. There were 31 countries represented in the entries.
Germany Hecktor posts fastest time at the World Masters Mountain Running Championships
Matthias Hecktor ran 42minutes 09 seconds to best a record field of 1013 finishers at the 12th World Masters Mountain Running Championships today in Buhlertal, Germany.
A lot of positive comments in favor of LOC arrived by the rummers.
Bruno Gozzelino, President, Nancy Hobbs, Treasurer, Wolfgang Munzel and Tomo Sarf , Council members attended to the event, together other VIP as German Margit Jungmann (IAAF Master Committee member and DLV representing) and Italian Pierluigi Migliorini (IAAF Master Committee member).
Always very good are relationships among WMRA and WMA also if this year none by WMA was present at the event.
Next year 13. Master World Mountain Running Championships will be held on August 31. 2013, at Janske Lazne, Czech Republik.
