A new mountain race in Malaysia

Malaysia stages its first mainland Climbathon.

Balwant Singh Kler friend of WMRA, mountain running and organiser of the 1999 World Trophy in Sabah, Malaysia, has asked me to publicise a new international mountain race in mainland Malaysia.
The race (in Malaysia they call their mountain races Climbathons) will take place in the Johor national park, about a 2 hour journey from Kuala Lumpur, on 27th August.
It is a 13km up & down event with about 1,400m of climbing.
There is a generous prize list, the same for men and women, starting at 5,000RM (about 1100€ or 1300US$) and going down to 10th position.
An excellent web page giving all details necessary for anyone considering entry has been prepared. The address is www.johorparks.com
WMRA are delighted to report news of this first mainland mountain race in Malaysia and sees it as another example of the gradual growth of our sport in Asia.
